International Seminar: Biorefinery of organic agro-food and urban wastes

On 14th June 2018, AINIA organized a barcamp in its premises at Paterna (Valencia, Spain), in the frame of its 5th Biorefineries Seminar. This International Technical Conference on Waste Biorefinery addressed the latest tendencies about the valorization of organic residues and subproducts originated by agri-food or urban activities and how this valorization is evolving towards its integral and sustainable utilization through biorefineries. It brought together more than 15 experts from Spain and other countries, where the bioeconomy is a priority, as speakers. The main topics addressed were: Biorefineries in the EU strategic framework about bioeconomy; Strategic framework EU/Spain. Innovation funding opportunities for companies; Biorefineries of organic residues; Solid urban residues; Lignocellulosic residues; New bioproducts through a biorefinery based on anaerobic digestion; Agri-food industry residues; Aquatic crops biomasses. Bioways project was presented at the beginning of the event, and the audience was invited to join the barcamp during the day.
The Seminar was attended by more that one hundred participants and included an exhibition area where Bioways had its barcamp stand, showcasing dissemination materials like: Bio...What? and Bio Challenge online games, Bioways Factsheets, Bioways Poster, Bioways rollup. Visitors were encouraged to additionally fill in the survey “Public Awareness of Biobased Products".
